Requirement To measure the proportion of slag poured together with molten steel and provide readings to a SCADA system. | ||

Solution A Flir Infrared camera captures images of the pour. A computer, located in the control room acquires the images via a Matrox Meteor 1394 fire-wire interface. The pour-analysis software developed by Westplex, written in National Instruments LabVIEWTM with the Imaq VisionTM toolkit, analyzes the image, using dynamic adaptive image processing algorithms to determine the pour volume and slag detection to measure the total mass, the slag mass and the slag percentage. Measurement results are transmitted to the SCADA system, using OPC. |
