To automatically acquire, process and record data from a number of different types of transducer (various configurations of linear displacement transducers, strain gauges, thermocouples, distance measuring transducers, etc.) associated with a Heavy Vehicle Simulator, used for road pavement testing over extended test periods. The simulator consists of a load wheel that runs back and forth along the length of the simulator. Displacement transducers, strain gauges and thermocouples are mounted on and in the pavement along the path of the load wheel.

A National Instruments 64-channel multi-function data acquisition card acquires measurements from the displacement transducers, strain gauges, wheel shaft-encoder and end-detectors. A National Instruments 15-channel temperature measurement card is used for thermocouple temperature measurement.
