Glass Furnace Flux Line Monitor System
Requirement
To monitor the conditions in a glass furnace, and report the positions of various stages of melting with respect to the gas ports.
Solution
A Matrox 4Sight-II vision processor, equipped with an Orion analogue frame grabber acquires images from two existing monitor cameras The monitoring software developed by Westplex, written in National Instruments LabVIEWTM with the Imaq VisionTM toolkit, captures images from the two cameras, and analyzes the images to determine the positions of two stages of the melt. The combined images, annotated with lines showing the positions of the melting stages, and distance calibration marks, are displayed on TV monitors in the control room. The readings are transmitted to a SCADA system by OPC. The program creates AVI video files of each shift. The 4Sight-II processor is equipped with opto-isolated digital inputs and outputs that provide an isolated 24volt interface with the plant PLCs.
